Record turnover in 2016: Growth continues at GvW Graf von Westphalen
GvW Graf von Westphalen was again able to end the last financial year with a good increase in turnover of 4.4 %. The revenue of EUR 40.2 million in 2016 meant that the 40 million Euro threshold was crossed for the first time. Compared to the last five years, GvW was able to increase its turnover in total by more than 26 %.
The profit number also had a similar, positive development. EUR 16.4 million profit in the last year means 5.1 % more profit than in the year 2015, for the fourth time in a row, GvW was able to clearly grow its annual profit.
The primary areas of the law firm, the practice of customs law and foreign trade law, was able to grow substantially with an increase in turnover of 15 %. Together with its large competency in the field of trade and commercial law, GvW accordingly continued to expand its strong position as the law firm for trade.
The increase in the GvW area of IT and data protection increased rapidly and is increasingly in demand in these times of digitalization. The team led by the Frankfurt practice group head Stephan Menzemer was one of the greatest improved areas in the law firm with an increase in turnover of 14 %.
Complex and large volume real estate, construction and infrastructure projects contributed to increased revenue in the law firm. An increase of 7 % in turnover for the traditionally strong Real Estate and Construction Team in the law firm also demonstrated here a further development.
"Our clients continue to like our full service approach with excellent advice in all disciplines of commercial law," said Christof Kleinmann, and Dr. Robert Theissen commented, "However, this does not contradict our strategy in the law firm of continuously working on our strengths and continuing to develop them."
Christof Kleinmann and Dr. Robert Theissen have been the managers of the law firm since 2009. The partnership again put its trust in the management for the fourth term of office in November 2015.

Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
