Midwich Group Acquires New Media in Germany
GvW Graf von Westphalen has advised the Midwich Group on the acquisition of Nuremberg based Bauer und Trummer GmbH who trade as “New Media”.
The Midwich Group with its headquarters in the United Kingdom is one of the leading distributors of technology solutions in the audio-visual sector with operations in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Iberia, the Benelux and Australasia. The Group has long-standing relationships with over 330 vendors, including blue-chip organisations such as Samsung, LG, Epson and NEC.
New Media is a value-added distributor of broadcast and professional video products based in Germany predominantly serving the DACH market in addition to a select number of other European markets. The acquisition of New Media enables the entry of the Midwich Group into the DACH broadcast and professional video market.
GvW Graf von Westphalen has advised the Midwich Group on the acquisition of Hamburg based Kern & Stelly Medientechnik GmbH in late 2013 (read more) and on its £165 million initial public offering (IPO) on London Stock Exchange’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM) and the related £75 million fundraising in 2016 (read more).

Federal Administrative Court: Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link may be built
The Federal Administrative Court has dismissed all six pending appeals against the planning decision on the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link. Construction of the tunnel may therefore now also begin in Germany. Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
